Wow, we have a ton of great things coming up for students this month and even more this year!

If you have not saved our Summer Camp 2025 dates, make sure they get on your calendar and look out for information about our sign-up Blits in the Spring. This past Sunday, we also announced our Costa Rica 2025 Mission Trip; more information is below.

In January, we challenged students to trust God by showing them how he helps us restart. In February, we'll share about lament and serving others before kicking off a new four-week series about wisdom at the end of the month.

(HS) In & Out: Cook-Off
Friday, February 7th6:00 PM - 9:00 PMLOCATION: Faith Church
This month, we're OUT for a Cook-Off!

Students will gather at Faith, divide into teams, and race off to the store before heading to the kitchens, where they will work as a team to create the best dishes possible with the secret ingredient(s), limited time, and budget.

All teams will return to Faith for final judging!

We are excited to announce a brand-new mission opportunity for our High School students this summer: Costa Rica 2025! Faith Student Ministries will be partnering with YWAM Nicoya, a mission center dedicated to sharing the Gospel in the rural villages of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. Their vision is for the people of the region to know Jesus and actively join in God's mission locally and globally.

The YWAM base is located in the countryside of the North-West of Costa Rica, in a province called Guanacaste. Guanacaste is famous for its beaches, national parks, and beautiful natural features. The base is in a typical rural village, surrounded by farmlands, in the central area of the Nicoya Peninsula. It is about 40 minutes from the closest town, Nicoya, and about an hour and a half from the closest beach.

Faith Student Ministry hopes to become long-term partners alongside this missionary base, with plans to send teams regularly and build lasting relationships. We envision this 2025 mission trip not as a one-and-done event but as the start of an ongoing collaboration in ministry. We hope you’ll join us!

THE GATHERING
The Gathering is for 6th-12th grade students. We gather to worship together, take a look at God’s word, and have some fun! The Gathering is a great place to get to know God and meet some new people. Join us on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 AM service in the High School Room (on the northwest side of the campus).

The Gathering will happen every Sunday in February.
Sunday, February 2nd - Lament (One-off)

This Sunday, we have a special morning with our Biblical Counseling Director, Amy Arnold. She will teach FSM about lament, something foreign to us today but is a recurring theme in scripture (did you know lament is mentioned more than praise).

WHERE IN GOD’S WORD: Lamentations 1, Psalm 10 & 22

Going deeper with your student this week:

The first step is HOW, this is where we ask all of our questions to God (how could this happen?).

What how questions do you have for God?

The second step is YET, this is planting our flag in the truth of who God is.

What do you know to be true about God?

The final step is WITH, this is an understanding that God is with us.

Where have you seen God with you in your life?

The Gathering at a Glance —

We will start a new four-week series in the final week of February! The series is called Good Call, and it's all about wisdom!

We know that coaches help their teams by training them to make the right decisions in a game. They create strategy and a game plan, and then they send their players out to make it happen. While the best coaches encourage their players to make wise decisions off the court, they aren't available to help at every moment. Wouldn't it be nice to know what to do daily and through all of life's big decisions?

Thankfully, God gives us wisdom whenever we need a good coach. In this four-week series from Proverbs and the New Testament letters, we'll learn more about the wisdom God offers us whenever we want to make godly decisions. We'll see that wise people practice what God has said and share what God has given them. We'll also examine how the Holy Spirit helps wise people follow God’s guidance and how wise people's words show God's love.

This Sunday, we'll look at the start of Solomon's reign as king when he prepared to make decisions on behalf of the people he served.

BIG IDEA: Wise people practice what God has said.

WHERE IN GOD’S WORD: 2 Chronicles 1:7–13; James 1:22–25; Proverbs 1:7

Questions to ask your student this week:

If God told you to ask for whatever you wanted, what would you ask for?

How would you define "wisdom"?

Who is someone you know personally or know of that you would consider wise?

What keeps you from doing the wise thing, even when you know it's what's best for you?

Read Proverbs 1:7.

In this passage, "fear" is another way of saying "awe" or "respect." In other words, it is characteristic of someone who lives out Godly wisdom.

What are some other characteristics of wise people?

What is one thing you can start doing this week to "practice" doing what God says?

Groups will meet every Wednesday in February, except February 19th for President's Week Break

Real Relationships -

Groups are where students cultivate real relationships with God, each other, and our leaders. It’s out of these relationships that purposeful conversations, life change, and discipleship can happen.

Tangible Truth -

Together, we dig into God’s Word, and through purposeful conversation, we make its truth tangible. Groups are where students wrestle tough topics, study scripture, and pray together, all in pursuit of growing with God.
