This year we're happy to provide you and your family with a 2024 Advent Guide. This guide can be done as a family and includes one study a week for four weeks.
It could be a great practice for your family to pick one night each week to do the reading, discuss the questions, pray, and close with a challenge to think about for the week. I recommend a night you know consistently works for your family, many families choose Saturday or Sunday evening.
For your information:
There is an intro that explains how the guide works that you should take a look at before you sit down for the first study, it would take about 5 minutes to familiarize yourself with the guide.
Week 3 - The closing activity/challenge talks about serving and loving the lost. In this season it may be conversational and more easily become practical after the holidays.
Week 4 - Focus on suffering. One option is to ask questions about what's going good and what are consistent truths about God; both of those things help prepare us for tough seasons ahead. Week 4 also includes an activity about building a manger scene, get creative but know that it needs a little material gathering in advance!
Note: If you would like to pick Saturday or Sunday, in order to finish before Christmas, you would have to do one this week and then one each Saturday or Sunday leading up to Christmas. Another option could be to pick Wednesday and end on Christmas. Doubling up one week or finishing shortly after Christmas is okay, too. The goal is for your family to engage, so do what works best for you!
