I'm really excited for where we're heading this month, and wanted to make sure you're in the loop on what we're teaching. We're talking about sex.
It's ok. Breathe.
I haven't lost you, have I? Okay good! Psalm 139:14 tells us "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well." God made us. He fashioned together ever part of our being - physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and yes- even sexually.
Let's be honest, culture's message about sex is confusing. Sexual activity, gender identity, LGBTQ+, gender roles, sexual portrayal in media, peer influence, sexual abuse, etc. There's a lot to keep track of! It's no surprise that there's a lot more to unpack today than there was 20 years ago. It's a hot-button issue for many and it's all people seem to talk about sometimes. The conversations about sex and sexuality are constantly and rapidly changing. That's why it's so vital that we have conversations about how God designed things to be because God's Word doesn't change.
Every teen has has certain ideas and expectations of what sex should—or shouldn’t—be about. But what if those thoughts and ideas are actually missing the mark? In this series, as we take a look at God’s design for sex, we’ll discover that there’s more to it than we think. Over the next 4 weeks we're unpacking what God intended sex to be about physically, mentally, and relationally.
We're framing the conversation within the context of SEXUAL INTEGRITY - Guarding my potential for intimacy through appropriate boundaries and mutual respect.
You can find details of what we're discussing in both jr and sr high below. We're taking different approaches to both age groups based on where they're at developmentally. And as always, if you've got any questions about what what we're talking about or how we're handling the discussion, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
