If you're anything like my family growing up, Summer is just as busy as the school year...but it's a different kind of busy, a far more fun kind of busy. One of our core philosophies in programming the youth ministry is that we don't want to be "one more thing" to have to fit on a calendar. We WANT our kids involved in sports, clubs, family vacations AND youth group stuff. However, we don't want to have our calendar so full that kids have to choose between youth group and something else. Of course, there will be schedule conflicts and there will be times where you may have to choose between a sporting event or family dinner, however, we don't want that to be the norm.
You may notice a few things missing from the calendar this season, we aren't meeting regularly on Sunday evenings, we aren't doing a Middle School 8-8, and we aren't doing as many weekday events as we did last year. However, we've added several completely new events, improved upon older events, and partnered with a couple parachurch organizations to add some specified ministry opportunities. There will be similarities with previous calendars and there will be some differences as well, but overall, like anything else in life, this Summer will be what we make of it...and I plan on making it one of the best Summers in R28 history!
If you ever have any questions, I am always more than happy to answer them!
