Summer is almost over, and your teens will be returning to school next week. I hope you all have had a great time together as family, had a few adventures, and are ready to begin another school year. Back to school has always been one of my favorite times of the year. As a student, I loved going back because that's where I saw my friends and had clubs and teams to be apart of. I also loved school in general because, to tell you the truth, I am a bit of a nerd. As a student pastor now, I love the back to school time because it is a time of new beginnings. New students moving up into our youth class, and new faces in general.
The start of school also marks a chance to be new. For your teens to have a fresh start in their classes, a new chance for the teams to play, and a chance to make new friends. It is also a chance for them to make a big impact. Jesus calls us to walk with him new everyday, to be his witness as we go through our lives. This time of year gives the chance to start fresh and let Him use students in a great way.
I ask you to encourage your students to set goals this year. Goals give us something to strive to achieve. Maybe it is making the playoffs on their team, or having a higher GPA. But encourage them to make spiritual goals as well, like reading the Bible 5 times a week, or inviting a new person to youth each week. Proverbs 29:18 says it all, "Where there is no vision, the people perish..." Help you students get a vision and reach for it.
As always if you or your student needs me for anything please feel free to call,
