On Sunday, April 7, Pastor RJ will be doing a parenting workshop called, "Smart Parents & Smart Phones: How to Raise Your Kids with Technology." Smart parents do smart things. They control their kids technology so their kids technology doesn't control them.
The workshop will cover topics such as:
1. Technology and the impact on the next generation.
2. Protecting and raising your kids with a smart phone.
3. How technology is used, misused, and abused
4. Tips on social media and online gaming boundaries
Here were some practical things you will be able to take away from the workshop:
- First, teach your kids how to use their technology before you let them handle it.
- Second, model for your kids what no phone zones look like to create balance and monitor usage.
- Third, focus on interaction vs. overreaction if you don't understand their behavior in a world of technology.
- Fourth, be engaging vs. isolating when it comes to technology discipline.
- Fifth, have goals in place for using technology.
- Sixth, have boundaries in place when using technology.
Parents are encouraged to bring their student with them to this workshop so they can understand how to balance smart phone usage and be aware of the issues they create when not used properly.
Good Friday Service - Friday, April 19th, 6:30 PM
Easter Services - Sunday, April 21st, 8:00, 9:30, 11:00 AM
There will not be Magnolia Students, but there will be Mag Kids for 9:30 and 11:00 AM services.
