March 1st - Blessed are the Merciful
"Those who have been forgiven much love much", in the words of Jesus (Luke 7:47). When we hold onto anger and hurt and grudges, we become robbed of peace and lasting Joy. This week, we will be looking at the high value that Jesus placed on forgiveness and mercy, and how it places a claim on us to extend that same mercy to those who have wronged us.
March 8th - Blessed are the Pure in Heart
The heart is a weird organ. It is a literal, physical organ in our bodies that has a function to keep us alive, but as a metaphor and as a symbol, it means so much more. We will be looking at how the Biblical authors understood the heart (see video here --> https://bibleproject.com/videos/lev-heart/), and what it means to allow God to purify it so that we may increase our awareness of Him in our lives.
March 15th - Blessed are the Peacemakers
No, we are not talking about a Colt Single Action revolver. But that would be cool, right? This week, we will be looking at what Jesus meant by peacemaker, which is much different than what it means to be a peacekeeper. We are meant to seek reconciliation in relationships that peace might reign among relationships in our lives.
March 22nd - Blessed are the Persecuted
If we are truly following Jesus, we will be facing persecution from those who are not. Even in a moral culture like ours, being a Christ follower does not always align with the values that those around us hold. We will be slandered, accused falsely, despised and so much more because we choose the way of our savior. We will be looking at why Jesus would call such people who undergo so much hurt "blessed" this week.
March 29th - Middle School in Sanctuary; High School will meet as normal
Middle school will be staying in the sanctuary this week, as Pastor Sam will be sharing God's word in the main service. High school will meet as normal from 6:30-8PM in the youth room. We have yet to decide what we will do this week, but it will either be a one-off message from Sarah, or a night to share what God is doing among us! Either way, it will be a night you will not want to miss out on!
