FALL EDITION
Fall is just around the corner, which means Compass Student Ministries are starting up soon! In this newsletter, you will find all the details about the events happening this fall and everything else you need to know if you have a son or daughter going in to grade 6, 7, or 8!

New to this year, we are asking that you register your son or daughter if they will be attending our student programs where you fill out an Annual Medical and Release Acknowledgement form, that way we don't have to collect all this information upon first arrival. This also means we will not have to collect a Medical Release Form for every event we do as we will already have the info from this form. To register, follow this link.

Compass Students
Beginning September 13, Junior High Students (grades 6-8) meet in the youth room upstairs at our Orangeville site during both our 9am and 11am services on Sundays. Watch for the dismissal slide on the screen after the worship portion of the service and head upstairs to the youth room via the front foyer stairs. Together, students will learn from age appropriate teaching and be released to return downstairs at the end of the service.

Beginning September 13, Junior High Students also meet on Sunday's at our Shelburne site at 10am and follow the same procedure, where a dismissal slide on the screen appears after worship. Both sites use the same curriculum and are on the same schedule so that whether you attend a service in Shelburne one week and Orangeville the next, your student won't miss out on the teaching.

Due to Thanksgiving there will be no Junior High Class on Sunday, October 11 at all our sites, and instead students are welcome to join in the main services.

The final Jr. High Sunday Class of 2026 will be on Sunday, December 13, and will start again on Sunday, January 3.
On Sept 15 and 16 I will be hosting a parent night at 7pm in the Cafe at our Orangeville site. I'd love to meet you and will be sharing the focus, and all the fun details of Compass Students for this ministry year. You'll get a chance to hear a bit about who I am, and why I am looking forward to this year. Questions and discussion are more than welcome after my brief update.

Sunday Dress Up
September 13LOCATION: Orangeville and Shelburne Sites
On September 13 we are inviting anyone involved with Compass Students to dress up in their "Sunday Best" as we will be sitting together on the right hand side in both the Orangeville and Shelburne sites! This means that Junior High, Senior High, Young Adults, and Volunteers are welcome to participate in this event! Dressing up is not a requirement and this is only meant to be a fun way to connect and for all of us to sit together for a Sunday morning service.

The Jr High students will be going up after worship for their Jr High Sunday Class but everyone else is welcome to stay and sit together during the service.
Junior High Kick Off Event
September 157pm - 8:30pmLOCATION: Orangeville Site
We are super excited for Compass Students to start up again, so we will be kicking the year off with a photo scavenger hunt with lots of different fun and unique challenges, which is also a great ice breaker game for new students to get to know one another. We are also going to make sure you have time to meet as a small group at the end to meet your leader and catch up after the summer break!

Make sure to invite your friends too! See you there!

Shelburne Kick Off Event (Grades 6-12)
September 177pm - 8:30pmLOCATION: Bethel Bible Chapel (Shelburne)
We are super excited for Compass Students to start up again in Shelburne and we too will be kicking the year off with a photo scavenger hunt at Bethel Bible Chapel! Baptisms

We are especially excited for this event and special service as we get to witness and celebrate friends and family declaring Jesus Christ as their Saviour!

Jr. High Games Night

Mission Experience Applications
October 25
Our Mission Experience applications for 2027 open on October 25! God continues to light a fire in the hearts of our students and young adults to serve, and we cannot wait to get things going for 2027. I think it's safe to say that every member of the three teams this past year (Windsor, Dominican Republic, and Vancouver) were deeply impacted on their experiences.

Serving opportunities like these have become a special place in my heart and it was very clear that the students felt the same way. Watching us all bond as a team, form relationships, and share the love of God with others was truly something special and we can't wait to do it again.

Trick or Treat For Hope

Since 2018 Compass Students has now collected over 8300lbs of food for our local food banks, and we couldn't be more proud of all the students, young adults, leaders and all the people who have donated or participated. Last year we visited over 800 homes in Orangeville and we even had another church partner up with us by doing a different neighbourhood in town!

Our dream is that we continue to see this event grow as it is such a great community event that God continues to put on our hearts each year and lead us through.

Fall Retreat
November 6 - November 8LOCATION: Camp Kwasind
This is a Junior and Senior High Event!

This Fall Retreat is a fantastic opportunity for students to grow closer to each other and God as they get away for the weekend in Muskoka! On this retreat, students will hear from a guest speaker, play a wide variety of games, and have an all-around great time as they meet new friends and connect with old ones!

Registration will be open soon, and if cost is an issue please let me know as we don't want this to be a barrier for students.

Departure from Compass: Friday, 6pm

Arrival home: Sunday, 4pm
Looking Forward To This Year
This summer I have been moved with how God has been revealing himself to the students here at Compass. I recently just got back from the Dominican Republic Mission Experience with the Senior High students, and I really loved seeing the students make new friends, bond as a team, and open up by sharing their testimonies and praying as a group. For some of these students it was their first time sharing like this and being challenged in these ways, and I love how much the students really engaged in this whole experience. My prayer for them is that God continues to reveal himself to the students who participated on this trip so that they can be on fire for God.
