Greeting Parents and Visitors,

 

If you haven't done so already, please stop and take a few moments to watch the video posted for this quarter (if you are reading the online version, just click here https://vimeo.com/232049876 ). It helps put into perspective where I feel God is leading us this year. As the youth leader, one of the most important and often challenging tasks I have is discerning where God is leading me to lead the youth. As I prepare for the coming year, I am confident God is calling us to focus on adequately preparing our students to be disciples. Put in simpler terms, to focus on building a solid foundation "Grounded faith." Equipping students to discover their identity in Christ, the importance of a regular time of meeting with God, balance, and Rest, and highlighting areas of their lives where Christ is shining brightly. I am extremely excited to share in this opportunity of growth with your family, and I hope you are as well.

 

And finally, let's also extend a warm welcome to our new Freshman students and their parents,(Miss. Kylie Blackwell, Mr. Nicholas Casalino, Mr. Robert Ceccarini, Mr. Drew Dibenedictictis, Miss. Alexis McNellis, Mr. Andrew Rhinehardt, Miss. Alli Stertzbach, and Miss. Chelsea White). We are excited to have you join the Pulse Family and look forward helping you discover where you fit into our family. Congratulations and blessings to you as you begin your Freshman year! Good luck to all our students.

Pray. Affirm. Unconditional. Share. Exhale.

September-December

A way for YOU to intentionally invite God into your day, your week and into your family.  

For the next three months, I want to invite you and your family on a journey, well more like an intentional P.A.U.S.E in life.

Designate a place in your home to gather as a family and be still, P.A.U.S.E. (You can complete this exercise either in the morning or at night, I do encourage you to choose to commit to the time you decide. Once a week or daily).

 

During your 2-5 min P.A.U.S.E:

PRAY - For one another.

Affirm - offer emotional support for one another

Unconditional - Remind one another of the unconditional love expressed by our Creator through His Son Jesus Christ and the unconditional love you among your family. Talk about what unconditional love looks like and what it means.

Share - Share your gratitude (what are you grateful for)?

Exhale- Breath in and exhale. Now begin your day.

 

Parent Engagement is an intentional invitation to God be a part of your parenting journey, and the structure is in the form of a book study. It's an excellent opportunity to actively engage in the developing of one's ability to parent well. There are discussions centered around parenting styles, knowing your children, understand them and ensuring they not only know they are loved but feel loved. 

 

 

 

This Fall, join us as we discover Love powered Parenting "Loving Your Children The Way Jesus Loves You" by Tom & Chaundel Holladay.

The Holladays' take time to highlight what they consider six of the greatest Parenting Principles from Jesus Christ. 

1. Believe nothing is more important

2. Love with New Power

4. Show & teach Mercy

5. Serve Your Children Well 

6. Live the Golden Rule 

When: 

Monday from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM or Wednesday from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM

If you are interested in being a part of the book study, please send me an email with the date that works best for you.

I will choose the most convenient date for the majority.

  

Commitment: A six-week study,  discussing a Principle weekly. Love Powered Parenting is written as a 30-day journey and is designed to be read as a daily devotional. 

 

Having read the texts, come prepared to share in the discussion.

You can Purchase the book online or from Walmart, Target and Barnes and Noble.

 

In the spring, I will again offer a study on The Five Love Languages of Children by Dr. Gary Chapman. My personal Favorite.

Upcoming Events

 

As we continue to align the Pulse of our Hearts with the Pulse of Christ, I invite you to study. 2 Timothy 3:14-17. We still have a few more weeks before we begin our Youth Group schedule.

Not attending youth group doesn't make you any less of a Christian than anyone who does.  I do, however, think it makes it a little more fun.Youth Group is a time for you to unwind, relax, take your mind off the everyday things and open your heart to what God is saying to you.

I encourage each of you to find a way to get connected to the church in ways more than just attending worship. 

Get connected, whether it's Sunday nights, Sunday mornings or Tuesday nights, Get connected!

Sunday evening Dinners: If you would like to prepare dinner for the Youth to enjoy on Sunday Nights, please contact Debbie Davidson by email. [email protected]

 

Pulse Counselors: Sign-up to work with the High School Youth Group on Sundays & or Tuesdays by leading book studies, playing games and building trusting relationships with students.

 

S.A.L.T Mentor: Commit to helping teach students about Leadership. Sun. from 12:00noon-1:15 PM.( Spirit Center parlor).

 

Event Chaperone/Participant: Look through the upcoming events and see where you would like to volunteer. Maybe you can't commit to Sundays or Tuesday but want to be involved. Chaperones for over night retreats (Winter Retreat November 12th-15th), Host for Progressive Dinner (December 16th), Chaperone for Concert (Dec. 17th), National Youth Gathering/Mission Trip (Summer of 2018).

 

10 10 10 Partner- I hope each of you will consider becoming a 10 10 10 Partner. The first ten stands for the 10th of the month, the second for 10 min of prayer and the last for $10. Will you consider being a 10 10 10 Partner this year?
