Hello Parents!
I wanted to thank you for allowing your youth to come to our group! There are some amazing things coming up to finish out the 2017 year. I am extremely excited about 2018, we have so much happening, I have no idea how we are going to keep up.
During Exodus 4:12 we will be talking about how we can continue running to Jesus in our day to day life. So often I hear from youth that they are not sure exactly how to live out their faith, or what it means to really sell out to him. There is nothing more exciting than to hear a young person accept Jesus for the first time. But I have found that this sometimes is like our New Year resolution to go to the gym 10 times a week. We are on fire for a week or two, and then other things come up. We want to help you coming alongside your youth to keep that fire ablaze!
We will teach on three ideas, Run to know God John 20, Run from sin Gen 39, and Run to share his gospel Acts 8. When it comes to youth, I think the most important thing is getting them own their faith. Some questions you may consider asking are: "When was the last time you ran (one of three topics) like the bible story?" "Do you think you handled that situation the best?" "How can you make your walk with Jesus more real?"
In addition to what we are teaching, I am very close to producing a youth discipleship plan that spans over a year that is grade appropriate. At the start of 2018, I will be able to give the youth and to you as parents a plan of how they can start making their walk with Jesus their own. This will cover a scripture plan, a book they can read, specific ways to evangelize and serve, and be a leader in the youth ministry. This plan is intended to be a self pace plan that I would love to have the youth push to get done on their own. Very exciting stuff.
I hope that this helps spark some ways to talk with your youth about what they are learning at Exodus 4:12. If you have any other questions, or would like to chat give me a call! Every youth in our group is doing some amazing growing right now! May the Lord bless you this Christmas season.
