God's up to something!
I'm not an incredibly emotional person, but this last week has been incredibly emotional for me. We've had many conversations with our team, our family, our ministry, and our students letting them know about a really hard decision that Rheayn and I have made.
In the past year God has been stirring up our hearts to begin to consider what might be next in life and ministry for us. In the last couple of months, God has specifically given us Hebrews 11:8 for this season: "By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going." I LOVE that Abraham lived by faith and I love the part about receiving an inheritance, but it's the final part of the verse where the rubber meets the road: Abraham had faith to start even though he didn't know the end. This is what's most challenged me - do I have faith to step out and start even if I don't know the end? Will I only say "yes" to God if I know the beginning, middle, and end or will I follow Him obediently when most of the future is obscured?
So, through a lot of prayer, patience, and wise counsel we have made the decision that it is time for us to take a big step of faith, even though we don't know the end. Practically, that means we're stepping out of River City Church in order to take a step closer to lead pastoring. Our final Sunday here will be March 18th and our final Wednesday will be March 21st. We don't know exactly what's next for us but we trust that God does - and He's the one we're following.
We also know that if He's working on our end He's working on the other end too. That means He's paving a way for us personally and opening those doors in His timing. It also means that He's paving a way for River City Church and stirring the heart and soul of the next leader of worship and youth ministry here. All bets are on God's promise and plan - which is where exactly where God calls us to live our lives!
In the meantime, we're exciting to have a final couple of months to invest in the church that's invested so much in us. We're so excited for one last Winter Camp with the greatest group of students ever! We're excited about getting to share our hearts and lives until the final day we're on staff at this church. And we're excited to continue the incredible relationships that were began here!
Thank you all for your love and support over the past 5 years. God has got this and we trust Him!
