30 Hour Famine
On Friday, May 18th we will be doing the 30 Hour Famine. This event is done through World Vision, which is one of the largest Christian relief agencies in the world. Encourage your teen to join the fight for a hunger-free world! Below is some valuable information about what we will be doing.
EVENT INFO: The actual event will consist of a few different stages. The famine will kick off on Friday, May 18th at 8:00am. The fast will begin at 8:00am. Make sure your teen eats a healthy breakfast. The students then will go to school. The students will refrain from eating lunch at school that day. We will be coming together as a group at 6:30pm in the Life Center to start the overnight event. Make sure your teen turns in their donations. On Friday evening we will be doing a variety of activities such as games, small group breakouts, Bible study, and worship. All students will sleep at the church on Friday evening (this is NOT a stay-up-all-night event). On Saturday morning we will be doing a service project in Beavercreek parks. We will break our fast together at 2:00pm with communion and a breakfast meal. You can pick up your teen by 3:00pm.
SAFETY: I just want you to know that the health and safety of your child is our first priority. We will be making sure that the teens are supervised. We will be drinking water and juice throughout the 30 hours. Most people can go without food for 30 hours without any side effects. If your teen has specific medical conditions or eating disorders that would prevent them from fasting they CAN participate. Have your teen bring their own food to the event if they are unable to fast. If you have any questions please let me know.
WHAT TO BRING: One change of clothes, sneakers, Bible, sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, air mattress (optional), toiletries (showers will be available), a good attitude and a servant's heart.
