Yesterday in Sunday School, we discussed the fact that Jesus expects nothing less than all of us. We read Luke 14:25-33, which is titled "The Cost of Being a Disciple". In these verses, Jesus gave 3 descriptions of the one He said could not be His disciple: 1) The one who does not hate his own family and his own life; 2) The one who does not bear his own cross and come after Jesus; and 3) The one who does not renounce all that he has. We talked about what each of these three descriptors means in the context of our own lives and the students were challenged at the end of the class to identify any area of their lives they have withheld from God and to consider what it would take to completely surrender this area.
Last night, we went to the [You Are] Enough Event at Mt. Pisgah UMC. I cannot even begin to describe how influential the speaker, John Trautwein, was for me and for everyone there. I've put a picture of 1 of his quotes from last night below. That was just 1 of the many kernels of wisdom from last night! If anyone who missed out on the event would like to hear more about what he shared, let me know!
