Read Exodus 5-6
In this passage we find Moses finally being obedient to God and going to Pharaoh to request that he allow the people to go, so that they could have a feast in the wilderness. Rather then releasing the people to do this, Pharaoh increases their workload! The people complain to Pharaoh and then to Moses and Moses is left questioning whether or not God really knew what He was doing. In chapter 6 God reaffirms his character and His promise to deliver the people from Egypt.
The lesson we can learn from this is that God will be faithful to His promises, but not necessarily in our timing. As Moses followed God he met resistance from people and was in a battle for faith, but ultimately what Moses needed to do and what we need to do is look to God's eternal character, rather than external circumstances. The greatest way we can know God's care for us and His control in our situation is by looking at His display of love for us by sending Jesus to save us from our slavery to sin.
