Who:  6th-8th-grade students and friends

Details:  On January 25 Jr. high students and leaders will meet at the church to head up to Cornville for a weekend Retreat.  Students leave technology behind as they spend a weekend with each other and dig deeper in their relationship with God.  For more information, contact Frank.

I just found out that this will be the very last trip to Cornville as the Leinweber's will be selling their cabin this spring.  Sign up so you too can experience Cornville for the last time.

Social media has trained us to be like Pavlov's dog; it dings, we answer.  However, we can fight back.  On Wednesday, January 9th, Dr. Kimberly Bussey will talk about the pitfalls of social media and smartphones and give practical tools to help us take back control from our lives.   

Dr. Bussey will talk to us about the history of technology and how we have gotten to this point where we are so dependent on our cell phones. (Don't think you are?  How many phone numbers can you remember?)  She will also discuss the need to control technology and not let it control us.  She will talk about how users interface and interact with the wiring of our brains and how we can use that information to create habits to prevent technology from becoming our primary experience.  

Dinner is served at 5:00 in Fellowship Hall followed Dr. Bussey's talk.

Our mid-week program, Engage, will resume as normal on January 16th.  Engage is designed to reach students where they are spiritually, while at the same time exploring what it means to engage the world as Christians.   As always, dinner is provided from 5:00-5:30 followed by our study from 5:30-6:30.  

Happy New Year!!  Sunday Night gathering returns this Sunday, January 13th. However, with holidays, camps, and the Super Bowl, the schedule for January and February varies from week to week.  Times will remain the same, but certain weeks some programs might not meet.  We will send out emails each week reminding participants about the change in schedule.

For those who are new, Sunday nights are an incredible opportunity for students to come together in fellowship and share their talents, whether musically or during our Bible study, as they grow in their understanding of who God has called them to be.   

Who: 6th-12th-grade students and parents

What: Meeting to discuss this year's Rummage Sale and our mission trip to the Bahamas 

What you need to know:

The proceeds of our annual rummage sale go to offset the cost of our youth mission trip. Because of this, we ask every student and parent to work at the rummage sale.  There will be an informative meeting on January 13 to let parents and students know what is expected of them at this year's rummage sale. 

We will begin our meeting talking about the Rummage Sale expectation for this year and next year and conclude it by talking to those parents or students who are currently in 8th to 12th grade and would like to know a little more about our trip to the Bahamas before making a decision. 

Student Applications for our 2019 mission trip to the Bahamas are now available and due February 3, 2019, for anyone interested in taking part in this amazing trip.

Adult Applications (for those adults wanting to be leaders) are due January 20, 2019.

Who: Jr. and Sr. High students

When: Following the 8:00 and 10:00 services.

Why: While the rest of the nation is preparing for a football game on Sunday, February 3rd, the youth of Pinnacle will join local schools, businesses, as well as community organizations to tackle hunger through Souper Bowl of Caring.

All money collected will go to benefit Andre House, one of our ministry partners that helps feed the poor. Teens, if you are willing to help serve, please contact Frank.

Details: We need students to help collect donations following the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services. Students are asked to bring a pot to collect the donations in for the Souper Bowl. If you would like to help collect donations, please let Frank know by Wednesday, January 31.

Who: Jr. and Sr. High Students

What:  Super Bowl Party

Where: 6151 E Wildcat Drive  Cave Creek, AZ 85331

    We are located off of Lone Mountain and 62nd St.  South on 62nd St. and our house will be about 1/4 mile on the right (there is no street sign for Wildcat Dr. nor are there any other houses on Wildcat Dr.)

Details: We will be providing the main dish and drinks, but we ask those in Sr. High girls to bring a side and Sr. High Boys to bring a dessert. We hope that your students can join us for this exciting day. Get there before the game to be part of the Super Bowl pool, where you can win gift cards from some of your favorite places.

**Note: in years past we have turned on our pool heater so students can go swimming. Our house does not have a pool heater, so students are more than welcome to swim, but the water is 57 degrees.**
