We have 21 kids signed up to come to camp this summer, which is triple the amount we took last year!
The overall cost for camp is $400 per student. Your $50 camp deposit is taken out of that overall cost. (If you have not payed this yet, please do so as soon as you can to secure your students spot.)
We have started to raise scholarship money for those who need it by using something called The Giving Wall. We have a board with envelopes listed 1 - 100, each envelope is connected to a certain dollar amount. For example, if someone selected the $1 envelope, they would put $1 in the envelope, seal it and put it in a box in front of the wall. Our goal is to have all of the envelopes adopted, payed for and turned back in. The money gained from this will be distributed on an as needed basis to each student, and depending on if they work specific events to earn that scholarship money. The students will need to earn their scholarships, if they need them! However much money we gain in February will be earned on March 3, at our Youth lead service. All money earned in March will be earned on March 31 at STC (our church's local missions work day). Please consider adopting an envelope yourself! I have the wall set up outside of the left doors of the sanctuary.
One of the ways I am going to suggest is by each student having their own personal "giving wall" and recruit people to help sponsor them to go to camp. I am attaching two separate "walls" to this email, both a 1-20 and a 1-25. If your student gets every number sponsored and paid for in the 1-20 wall, they will earn $210 toward camp! If they decide to do the 1-25 wall, they could earn up to $325!! I would highly suggest doing this, because it is a really easy way to earn most of their money for camp! (START DOING THIS NOW) It is up to you and your kid(s) to be in charge of your own fundraising. And as you earn money, please turn it in!
If you are able and would prefer to just pay the full cost toward camp, please do so! That would help the scholarship money go to those who really need it. I will have a folder for each student at the meeting with the amount they owe toward their camp cost.
The dates that camp payments are due are: March 15th - 50% of camp cost due
May 1st - 100% of camp cost due
These dates are selected by the camp and are the days I have to make payments to the camp. Please make sure you make your payments on time. If you are able to make these payments ahead of time, do so! All checks need to be be made out to Lawn Baptist Church. I will be communicating with each of you about what you owe before these dates pass.
At the end of the day, please do not let the cost of camp scare you! There are so many ways your student can raise/ earn money toward camp. And if all else fails, we will do everything we can to help not let this cost be a burden on you or your family!
