Yesterday in Sunday School, we started a new study called "The Way: Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus", written by Adam Hamilton. We are using this to gain a deeper understanding of different events during Jesus' ministry and we will tie it all together with Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection at the end of the study. Week 1's lesson was on Jesus' baptism and His temptations in the wilderness. We read Mark 1:1-13 to learn about John the Baptist's role in the beginning of Jesus' ministry, and then turned to Matthew 4:1-11 to read more in-depth about Jesus' temptations in the wilderness with Satan. We talked about baptism and how Jesus' baptism showed that He was beloved of God, just as baptism is a powerful symbol of God's love for each of us. We also discussed the temptations that we face today and how we can find the strength to face those temptations, just as Jesus did. We are claimed by God and are anointed with the Spirit!
We had a great time yesterday at the Braves game! We had 10 students join us for an awesome game complete with beautiful weather. Thanks so much to Walter King for driving the bus and to Malinda King and Wes Wasson for coming along to help!
