Fatherhood is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a long and often trying journey and requires a lot of discipline to finish successfully. Ephesians 6:4 tells fathers to bring their children up in the discipline of the Lord. To do this well, fathers must first be disciplined themselves in their own devotion to our Lord. Just as a marathon runner does consistent disciplined training to finish the race, likewise fathers must be consistent in their Bible Study, prayer-life, service to others, and church involvement to raise disciples of Christ.
Also, a marathon runner depends on others to support and encourage them to the finish line. Church, it is our job to support and encourage our fathers to lead their families. Together we can finish the race well. Happy Father’s Day to all of our men who are raising disciples of Christ.
Sincerely,
Pastor Dwight
