Summer Camp is back at Camp K!!
Monday-Thursday: 4 days, 3 nights of camp fun, devotions, camp food, games, camp worship.
Times: departure: please arrive @CMF between 8:45am and 9:00am Monday June 8. We hope to leave a little after 9.
arrival back home: we plan to be back to CMF on Thursday June 11 around 3pm. We will send a Remind message with a more precise ETA once we are on the road.
We love Camp K for many reasons: there are many opportunities for fun such as lasertag, zip-line, swimming and campfires. Then there's the yummy food and camp-cabin sleeping. Each day we have the chance to build our faith with godly teaching and to praise Jesus. This year we will have an opportunity for a little "getaway" mid-week where we get to explore a local attraction. Our "daytrip" will be to the Greenwood Furnace State Park, where there is swimming, trout fishing, sand beach, volleyball, hiking, and more. You will have an opportunity to "order out" and have your meal that evening delivered to the Park for a special dinner together. (learn more about this beautiful park by checking it out online.)
Cost: We made a special effort this year to keep to a bare minimum. SummerCamp is set up to be "all-inclusive" which mean everything is covered. We are estimating that Camp will cost between $300-$400 dollars. We only ask you to pay $125. The rest of the cost is covered by CMF and the fundraising (which is already completed for this year.) (Sometimes Camp will open up the camp store where students can buy extra drinks, snacks, or Camp K gear. This is optional but would require extra cash. Our "getaway" trip mid-week will cost something extra but we don't know what that cost is just yet. This is the first we've ever done this mid-week trip.)
Registration: Click here to register. (It will take you to an online registration where you can also pay online. You may instead write a check to "CMF" with "youth summercamp" written in the memo line.)
register by May 31st @8pm
To bring: sleeping bag and pillow (we sleep on bunk beds), outdoor clothing, personal hygiene items, shoes, shower shoes or flip flops, paper Bible, water bottle, swim suit (swim suits should be 1 piece or 2 piece suits that cover the belly.), snack to share with the group.
cell phone? Camp has very little reception so you won't be using these at all during the week. We ask you to keep them in your bag inside your cabin. You are welcome to use them in the van ride to and from Camp but that's about it.
money? This camp experience is "all-inclusive", meaning that no additional money is needed. All meals and transportation and lodging are covered! There will be some optional moments where a student may want some extra cash, but it's totally not needed at all. For example, sometimes Camp has the "Coffee Shack" open early in the morning for special drinks. Sometimes Camp will open up the Snack Shack for a midday snack. On our daytrip to Greenwood Furnace State Park on Wednesday there may be a small snack shop there. None of it is necessary but it does gives students an opportunity to learn the responsibility of managing a few dollars of cash.
weather: it's good to have clothing for a variety of conditions. We spend lots of time outdoors so please keep that in mind. It is rare that we go outside in the rain for any extended time but a light raincoat is good for walking from one building to another in the rain.
More information about Camp Kanesatake location: We use the facilities of Camp but we provide all our own teaching, leading and worship. Click here for more info.
Theme: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Oh yeah, and love your neighbor. This is our theme for the week as we look to God's Word for guidance in living our lives His way.
