Have Some Family Fun This Fall!
A dip in temperatures means you can finally go outside without breaking a sweat! Those hot and humid days are (hopefully) behind us. Welcome the autumn weather by grabbing a sweater and enjoying time with your family outside. In addition to family bonding, these activities may help boost your mood as you prepare for the upcoming holiday season:
Take a Hike
Walking lifts your mood & has other positive effects on your body. Walking as a family opens doors to many health benefits! While you walk, talk about what's going on in your kids' lives... school, friends, interests, etc. Leave phones in the car for extra focused family time.
Fly a Kite
Fall is the perfect time to get outside & enjoy cooler temperatures. If you don't have a kite laying around, try making your own with paper, sticks, & string. Check out your local park & get outdoors!
Pick Your Own Produce
Look around for pick-your-own farms in the area. Strawberries, blueberries, pumpkins, & apples are all tons of fun to harvest with the family. Go home & bake a pie with the produce you pick- Family bonding just got delicious!
Attend the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair
The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair is a fun-filled event that will dazzle kids and adults alike. This year, the fair will run from Oct. 24- Nov. 3. The fair, a regular Baton Rouge event since the 1960s, is held on 100 acres of land located on Airline Highway. From games, rides, & live music to deep fried fair foods, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair is sure to be a memorable event for you & your family!
Visit the Cajun Country Corn Maze
Cajun Country Corn Maze in Pine Grove, less than an hour’s drive away from Baton Rouge, doesn’t disappoint. This season, the maze is open from Oct. 5 to Nov. 24. The attraction also has a petting zoo, pig races, duck races, a playground and more. You can also ride a cow train and try your hand at the air cannon. There’s something for the entire family at Cajun Country Corn Maze.
Cheer for the Local Team
Try your local high school for some Friday Night Lights IRL, or check out the LSU Tigers on Saturdays! Tailgate with friends & enjoy the bustling environment surrounding Death Valley... Although in my opinion there's no place like Lincoln, Nebraska on gameday. Go Big Red! ;)
God's richest blessings on you & your family this fall!
