Judges 16:1-31 Reflection Questions
Verses 1-17: What do the incidents recorded in these verses tell us about Samson’s personality? What do they reveal about Samson and Delilah’s relationship? What is a Nazarite (Judges 13:1-5; Numbers 6:1-8)? How well did Samson understand the secret of his great strength?
Verses 18-22: Of what was Samson unaware, until it was too late? How was Samson treated by the Philistines? Is it natural or unnatural for hair to grow? Why do we understand the growth of Samson’s hair as a reason for hope?
Verses 23-31: To whom did the Philistines give credit for their capture of Samson? What did the rulers of the Philistines want? What do you think it means that Samson “performed” for them (verse 25)? Where did Samson ask to stand? What do you think of Samson’s prayer? In what sense did Samson “lead” Israel?
Hebrews 12:32 lists Samson as one of the ‘heroes’ of faith. What does that mean? How comfortable would you be holding up Samson as an example for people today?
What do you think about Samson’s desire for revenge (verse 28)? What does the story of Samson teach us about grace?

The Dwell curriculum we use in ministry to our children during the Faith Formation Hour is now accessible digitally for free! We are working to produce some instructional material to guide you in using the online resources and will be sharing the lessons that were to be taking place in the classroom for you to continue with at home. If you'd like access, contact Travis at [email protected]
We took time during last Wednesday night's Zoom connection and again during Virtual Youth Group to name what we were mourning and missing during this time of physical separation. We also took time to express thankfulness for things we recognized as blessings during this same time. The Fuller Youth Institute encourages us to do the same, naming loss and gratitude during this time of uncertainty.
Our Sunday night Virtual Youth Group gatherings have included discussions on Andrew Atwell's "Reckless Love" video series through Next Step Ministries. This week's video is shared below. Consider the testimony of Mo Isom and what her story says to you about adversity and identity.
