“I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!” Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, He saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.”
- Psalm 116:1-9
Finish this sentence: I love the Lord because __________.
The answers that could fill in the blank are limitless! In Psalm 116, the psalmist gives us a few examples: I love the Lord because He hears my voice… because He is gracious… because He saved me… because He preserves me… because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Hasn’t the Lord dealt bountifully with all of us?
Sure, there are tough seasons of life- loss, grief, sickness, betrayal, & a number of other hardships. But need I remind you that for those who love God, all things work together for good? (Romans 8:28.) The Lord cannot do you wrong. Just wait a little longer.
This loss is not the end. This pain will pass. You are not too far gone. The Lord will deliver you from this trial. We worship a God of second chances- a God of miracles, mercy, & redemption. The God we worship goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6) Your Heavenly Father loves you. If you could do anything to make Him love you less, He would be less God, because God is Love. (1 John 4:8)
So shout it from the rooftops “I love the Lord!” Declare it over every valley you sink into & every mountain you climb. Repent & rest easy, because He has dealt bountifully with you. He always will.
I’m praying for your families in this season of life. May you feel the loving embrace of your Heavenly Father no matter the circumstances.
In His Love,
Miss Kenzie
