We fully recognize students are at varying levels of maturity and awareness of the topics we will be discussing. We also know that parents are at different levels of conviction and preference when it comes to the best way to approach this topic.
So, here are a few clarifying points about this series:
- This series is not a "sex-ed course." This series is a theological course on God's design for sex and relationships.
- This series is not rated G. There will be honest and blunt talk about this topic, but in a way that honors God and your family.
- This series is not just about sex. This series is about finding fulfillment in a healthy relationship with God, and the role sexual integrity plays in that healthy relationship.
Please note, we do not want this series to take the place of conversations that should be happening between students and parents. We want to come alongside conversations that we hope are taking place between students and parents. We also know as we address this topic, this may be a valuable opened-door for you to begin a dialogue between you and your student. Please refer to the overviews listed above and the MADE Series Parent Conversation Guide to help get you started.
As you know, our student ministry is combined Middle School/High School students, which presents challenges as well as opportunities. Our goal for every series we teach is to have mature conversations that point your students to what God says so they can become more like Jesus. This topic is no different. That said, we respect and understand if you do not want some of your Middle School students to hear or discuss specific topics. Should you choose not to send your middle schooler to any of these discussions, we completely understand and respect your decision.
If you have any questions or are looking for any further clarity about this series, feel free to contact Trent or Josh at the church by phone at 615-989-3536 or via email at [email protected] or [email protected]. We know this is a sensitive yet crucial topic. We would appreciate your prayers as we walk through this series together.
Blessings,
The NorthField Student Ministry Team
