I guess you could say it means the signs of Spring Break are on the horizon along with warmer temperatures and of course St. Patty's Day. Below are all the upcoming events to keep you in the loop and connected to everything student Ministry.

Don't Forget About The Parent Cue App...

Parent Cue is an App where you can have access to the Sunday content your kid is learning and encourages you in a variety of ways to engage in conversation with your student. In addition to weekly content it also has great elements of blog posts additional parenting resources/information, and informs you of how many weeks you have left with your kids until he/she graduates. As their website puts it: "The Parent Cue App is designed to help every parent do something each week to help move their child toward a deeper faith and a better future."

Impact Mexico
March 14LOCATION: Acuna, Mexico

This trip is already planned and is currently closed, but you could be praying for the 31 people going over Spring Break to Acuna Mexico to build 2 homes for families in need. The dates are March 15-20

A Night of Worship for Families of All Ages. We will Worship Together and spend some time recapping the mission trips that take place over Spring Break.

7th & 8th Grade Sunset Bible Camp
June 7LOCATION: Sunset Bible Camp
Sunset Bible Camp is tucked away in Mannford, OK and offers many activities including swimming, rappelling, wall climbing, zip-line, a Super Slide to the Lake, canoeing, and more.

During the week students will hear challenging messages, engage in relevant worship, and be challenged to deepen their relationship with God and with each other.

The Theme or our 7th-8th Grade week of camp is "The Pause" -Learning to Seek God.

The price-point for camp is as follows:
A $50 deposit must be made upon registration
Registration Opens March 1 at 2:00 at $195 ($50 Savings)
After April 5th it goes up $15 to $210 ($35 Savings)
After May 3rd it goes up $10 to $220 ($25 Savings)
After May 31st it goes up $25 to $245 (No Savings)
Adults $80 (Includes T-shirt)
MOVE 2020

July 5LOCATION: Cleveland, TN

Move is a 5-day high school event held all over the country designed to amplify the call of Christ on students' lives to become kingdom workers. Located on college campuses across the nation, MOVE provides a program for 30,000 high school students every summer. Students are challenged through intense, interactive worship, dynamic preaching, small group study and community building.

This Summer our Student Ministry will be going to Lee University in Cleveland, TN. The dates for the trip are July 5-8, and the cost is $415. The cost will be going up the closer it gets to the trip so get registered early. (A minimum of $75 deposit is due upon registration, but you are allowed to pay all if you would like--this deposit is non-refundable but transferable).
Registration Deadline is as follows: (NOTICE THERE IS ABOUT TO BE ANOTHER PRICE INCREASE AFTER MARCH 8th!!)

$415 if registered between Jan. 12 and Jan. 26 (Save $50)
$425 if registered between Jan. 27 and March 8 (Save $40)
$435 if registered between March 9 and April 5 (Save $30)
$445 if registered between April 6 and May 3 (Save $20)
$455 if Registered after May 3 (Save $10)
$465 if Registered after June 7 (No Savings)
Adults are $350

The first 10 students to register will be placed in a drawing to win various prizes during the week of MOVE (All 10 will win something!!)

Anyone who registers between Jan. 12-Jan. 26th will be placed in a drawing to win a $50 Visa gift card that can be used during their trip.

*Drawings will be held at the MOVE meeting the Sunday before the trip (June 28).

Campuses will be having Fundraisers as the event gets closer.

BA will have a MOVE fundraiser on Mother’s Day, May 10th. We will be asking students and parents to make some baked goods to be auctioned off that Sunday Morning before and after both services. (More details to come)
Family Camp
August 7LOCATION: Sunset Bible Camp
Enjoy a fun-filled family weekend (Friday-Saturday) at Sunset Bible Camp. Family Camp is designed to allow our Cedar Ridge family to get away for an overnight adventure, have a shared experience and enjoy all the elements that Sunset has to offer. There will be swimming, s’mores around the campfire, late night activities, rock-climbing/rappelling, games, crafts, worship and so much more.

Cost:
- Early Bird Pricing if registered by May 31st:
Single Person: $20, Couple $40, Families $50
- Price Increase:
- After May 31: Single Person: $25, Couple: $45, Family: $65
- After July 26: Single Person: $30, Couple: $50, Family: $85
- Registration Closes: July 31 (1-week out)
Lodging:

Men and boys will sleep in the men’s cabins; women and girls will sleep in the women’s cabins. Please plan on having a same-sex guardian for all minor children.

Elevate (Wednesday Night Programming)
Ends March 11thLOCATION: The Ridge Student Center
Elevate is our Mid-Week programming for 6th-12th Grade students. Elevate consists of upbeat games, worship, relevant message and Small Group Discussion. Elevate takes place from 6:30-7:30 with our $1 Dinner/Snack Bar items opening at 5:30. Elevate will end on March 11th, but we will keep doing Various Activities through April .

We are in our last series called Restored which is focusing on the Gospel message.

Sunday Morning Small Groups
Throughout the school year we do Small Groups on Sunday Mornings (We take a break for the Summer months). Each Small Group consists of students in their respective age and gender led by a caring adult or 2. This School Year we will be taking a series based approach and cover various series that fit our 7 Principles model (Share The Story, Servant Hearted, Identity, Spiritual Disciplines, Engage The Word, KingdomWorker, & Community Matters). Our First 3 series of 2020 will consist of new series' called: "Sincerely God", "Change," and "Hear Me Roar." We just finished Sincerely God which focused on The Bible, and Change which focused on Prayer. Now we are moving into a series called "Hear Me Roar" which will focus on Evangelism.

Be a AAA Parent

When I'm asked about what parents can do everyday (besides praying) that can make a huge difference in their kids' lives, I tell them three things that can make them "AAA Parents."

Affection. Everyone needs affection to thrive, but kids want affection from their parents. I'm convinced that one of reasons teenagers are so sexually promiscuous (especially girls) is because they lack affection from the significant male figure in their life. My parents were great, but they weren't overly affectionate, so I chose to change the script in how I parented. I pour affection on my kids through hugs, back rubs, and snuggling during TV time.

Affirmation. Mark Twain once said, "I can live for two months on one good compliment." Unfortunately, many kids go two months without any genuine affirmation from their parents. Through their words parents yield so much power to shape their kids. Imagine your child has a bank account and each encouragement, affirmation, positive comment, intentional and personal word of kindness is a deposit of a penny to their account. Each negative comment is like withdrawing a quarter. How is your child's bank account doing?

Attention. Simply stated, this means parents need to focus and engage on what's happening in their kids' lives. Giving kids attention means more than popping by their bedroom and waving goodnight -- it means tucking them in. It means more than asking how their day went -- it means asking and really listening to the answer and then asking more questions. It means more than making sure they get homework done -- it means helping and coaching in a way that they feel confident and empowered. Kids need to feel that they matter to their parents!

Parenting isn't easy. Intentional parenting is even more difficult, but the rewards your child will reap through affection, affirmation and attention are worth the difficulty it takes for parents to make these into daily habits!
