My family has officially experienced a decent snow here in Alexandria! I hope you all had a chance to get out and sled, build a snowman, or throw some snowballs! We started off January with a bang and had a two week series entitled "Straight Outta Context" where we looked at verses that get taken out of context often. It was a great reminder to make sure we stop and read the Bible carefully and not just pull random verses out and make them say what we want them to say.
We just wrapped up a two week series on Mental Health. I learned a ton and we talked about anxiety, depression, eating disorders, etc. We looked at Scripture that helped show us that we are created in God's image and we are also to make sure that we are standing up for our friends and being there for them. I sent home every student a packet at the end of the night that had a ton of resources on it. I pray that you would find it helpful! Much thanks to Lee Ann Kramer and Brittany Hall for a short interview using their experience and jobs to help us out!
This upcoming week, we are taking a look at what the Bible says about Heaven and then next week we are looking at what the Bible says about Hell. We'll tackle common questions asked about each place and see that these in fact are real places and we can learn a ton from God's word.
After that, we are doing a one week series on dating. We'll be looking at how to approach it and what qualities we should be looking for. Next year we will do more of a deep dive into dating/sex and I will make sure that parents are in the know about what we'll be diving into specifically.
To conclude February we are talking about racism and social justice. What is it and how can we love our neighbors as ourselves?
