Summer time is here and with it come summer time plans.
This year, at FBNB Student Ministries, we plan to take our activities out into the community! May 19th, there will be no youth activities. Our leaders will take the week off and then plan to hit the ground running the following week. Wednesday nights will transition from our regularly scheduled events and become times for devotionals at the park, outreach opportunities, and community building events. Every week will change and have something new for our students to experience. The goal is to have the majority of our gatherings outside the four walls of the church building. This goes well with our desire to be a church body that is active in the community around us. It will give our young men and women a chance to shine the Light of Christ within our local area.
Please pay close attention to the student Facebook page (link is at the bottom of this letter) as I will be reminding everyone of planned activities, places to meet, and times to meet up. I will also send out a reminder email for those of you who do not check Facebook regularly.
More information is on the way. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Travis at (903) 720 2054.
HA! Take that COVID.
Rules and restrictions tried their best to stop youth/children camp for yet another year in a row... but we're striking back with FBNB Family Camp!
Pastor Doug and I recently visited Highland Lakes Camp in Spicewood, TX and found that there are still plenty of opportunities for our families to enjoy a summer camp weekend retreat together. Lake side fun, an awesome pool, zipline, ropes course, paintball, nine square, basketball, playgrounds for little ones, places to relax/escape the heat, a massive dining hall, fire pits... you name it and they probably have it!
Most accommodations will be in bunk houses with bunkbeds. Don't worry, separate bunkhouses for genders, of course, offer families more privacy. There will also be RV hook ups available for those who wish to bring their RV instead.
We are calling this a "family camp" because we are encouraging parents to experience this weekend with their children. Pastor Doug and I are working together to provide a weekend the whole family can enjoy.
Now, there is still plenty of planning in the works so stay tuned for more information. I'm sending out this announcement because I know you're well on your way to making plans for the summer... so here's your save-the-date!
For those who have questions... wait. No seriously. This is new for everyone and is taking a lot of thought process and time to plan out! Please keep us in your prayers as we try something new and work hard to provide what COVID has made unavailable.
It's going to be great and, personally, I'm excited about it. We hope your family plans to attend!
