I am so excited to begin our regular, weekly hangouts for YAA again this month!! I had some much fun with some of our youth at the pool party and bowling/laser tag events in August - I can't wait to see what is in store for students this month. We have some great games and activities planned for our kick-off event on September 8, 6-7:30pm; we will have some competition that night and the top students will go home with some great, ridiculous, very random prizes!
For September we're going back to the 90's for our series 'Rad'. When Jesus was on earth, he had a lot to say about love, but not everyone loved him. Instead, Jesus’ opponents hated him, attacked him, and saw him as extreme — dangerous — revolutionary — a radical. And they had a point! The things Jesus taught about loving God and loving others challenged the status quo and changed the world forever. That’s pretty radical. In this 4-week series from the book of James, we’ll look at four ways Jesus invites us to love according to his revolutionary example. These ideas might seem simple, but when we choose to listen more than we speak, watch our words, and fight for peace, we’ll see just how radical Jesus’ teachings really are.
September 15: Radical people listen more than they speak
September 22: Radical people watch their words
September 29: Radical people fight for peace
Each week at YAA we will have snacks and drinks. We will meet in the AB, but weather permitting we will be outside some weeks. When inside, we are requesting students to wear masks to help keep everyone as safe as possible. If you'd ever be interested in donating snacks for our weekly hangout, please let me know. As we begin a new year it's also time for medical forms to be completed and returned. I will have forms available for students at YAA, but you can click here to access a form to print at home and fill out.
