Parents, we hope our Newsletters are a helpful tool to disciple your teen. We are united to help you guide your student to live out their faith in Christ personally and publicly. "Jesus Is Still Better"  Overview

We are starting the second half of a series through the book of Hebrews called "Jesus Is Still Better". The points and discussion questions below are intended to help you engage in Biblical conversations with your student(s) about what they are learning on Wednesday nights. 

 

Week 1 

Points

Hebrews 7:23-28

1. Jesus's priesthood is eternal.  
2. Jesus endured temptation on earth without sin.
3. Jesus offered his own life as the ultimate sin offering. 

 

Discussion questions

1. What did you takeaway from the message tonight?
2. What is a high priest?
3. Why is Jesus the perfect High Priest?
4. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that Jesus is able to sympathize with our weaknesses and he understands our temptation. How does knowing this help you fight sin? 
5. Do you struggle to believe that Jesus is better than anyone the world offers?

 

Week 2 

Points

Hebrews 8:7-13

Characteristics of the new covenant:

1. Implanting God's law in our hearts.
2. Knowing God personally.
3. Forgiveness of sins.

 

Discussion questions

1. What did you take away from tonights message?
2. What is the difference between a covenant and a contract?
3. How would you describe your relationship with God? Covenantal or contractual?
4. Is your relationship with Christ more head knowledge or heart transformation?
5. What's a step you can take to grow towards heart transformation?

 

Week 3 

Points 

Hebrews 9:23-28

1. Christ is the better and final sacrifice.
2. Our wait for Christ is not in vain.
3. In Christ, we have unwavering hope.

 

Discussion questions

1. What did you take away from tonights message?
2. How should you live differently in light of tonights message?
3. Do you find it difficult to believe the Jesus is better than anyone/anything in this world?
4. One of the points tonight was "In Christ, we have unwavering hope." Do you feel hopeful about your life/future?
5. We were challenged to "walk in boldness as you pursue Christ." What does this look like in your life?
6. What questions do you have about tonight's message?

 

 

Week 5 

Points

Hebrews 10:19-24

1. Draw near to Christ with a truthful heart full of faith.
2. Hold onto the confession of our hope in Christ without wavering.
3. Consider one another to produce love and good works.
