Monthly Kids Update: September 2026
We are praying for you all as you begin you are starting out the new school year. Here is what you need to know that is coming up in September and beyond:
1) Memory Verse Sunday- October 4 @ 9:30 am & 11:00 am: One of our core values as a kids ministry is to see God's word in the hearts of your kids. Your elementary aged kids will have an opportunity to say the current unit memory verse for a prize. Our memory verse is 1 Chronicles 16:15 NIV version
2) Fall Fest- October 25 @ 3:00-5:30 pm: More details including a sign up will come very soon, but we wanted you to save the date. This is an amazing event for the. whole family, and it is a great event to invite a friend to. We will have inflatables, food trucks, and a trunk r treat.
3) Parent Commissioning Class-November 1 @ 11:00 am: Parent Commissioning Class is an opportunity to learn more about Severn Run, learn more about our Kids Ministry and Student Ministry, and discover the resources we offer to help families be faith leaders at home. It also a great opportunity to connect with families in a similar season of life in the church. Please note that this class is required in order to participate in Child Dedication. 4) Child Dedication-November 29 @ 9:30 am & 11:00 am: Child Dedication is an amazing opportunity for parents to be celebrated and prayed over as they embrace their calling to be the spiritual leaders of their home. You can learn more and signed up with this link.
5) Sub with us in Kids Ministry: As we head back into the the school year this is a great time to get more connected. One way that can look like is by joining the sub team. Subs sign up for one weekend and service a month. It is very flexible, and it is a great opportunity for you all to learn more about what we do as a kids ministry on Sunday mornings. 6) Serve with us in Kids Ministry: We are always looking for more people to join the team. This is especially true of when we start the new school year. This is a great opportunity to get connected, and to learn more about how to disciple your kids. If you are interested in learning more about serving in kids ministry you can sign up for a kids training using this link.
7) Compassion Giving Initiative- This year we are going to add both a missions and extra giving focus to our Next Gen Ministry. We will be sponsoring a boy and girl from the amazing ministry called Compassion. This ministry helps kids in low income parts of the world. This is a great way for kids to give and learn about international missions.
8) Join the set up team: One team I am wanting to grow is our team that helps me set up rooms on Sunday. I am looking for a couple of more people to serve kids ministry by coming in to help set up on Thursday mornings. This is a great opportunity to serve during the weekday, and it can be something you do as a family. If you are interested in learning more please email [email protected]
