Hey Parents and Students!

I'd like to continue to highlight the recent change to our Sunday morning programming. Our 11am hour will now be a Student Worship service, where both Middle and High School students are invited to join us in worship, fellowship, and learning.

We have made our Student Leadership and Worship Team applications available to students. If you have any questions about either of these opportunities for your students, please don't hesitate to reach out to me! Shoot me an email at [email protected].

We believe these elements will give our students opportunities to serve and lead that they may not otherwise get in adult worship. Our hope is that these opportunities will encourage our students to do Kingdom Work and encounter Spiritual growth.

- Our group Dollywood Trip is Saturday, September 9th. The last day to sign up is September 1st! All students are invited, but the winning TRIBE team gets to go for FREE! Please scroll down to "Trips and Events" to register now!

- TCTC Registration is now OPEN. TCTC is January 5-7, 2024 in Gatlinburg, TN. Scroll down to the "Trips and Events" section of the newsletter to find out more and to register today! The price per student is $175 until October 22nd. After that date, the price will go to $200.

TCTC 2024
January 5 - January 7LOCATION: Gatlinburg, TN
When?: January 5th-7th, 2024
Where?: Gatlinburg, TN
For Who?: Middle and High School Students
How Much?: $175 until October 22nd. $200 after that date. THIS PRICE IS ALL-INCLUSIVE.

We will be staying in a large cabin in the Pigeon Forge area. All of our meals will be made at the cabin. We will be utilizing Todlow Coach out of Gray for all of our Transportation.

The theme for TCTC 2024 is “ENOUGH.” We must all decide when we have had ENOUGH and turn from our own worldly ways. We must recognize the fullness that God has given us and all the abundant ways He proves to be ENOUGH over and over again. Lastly, because He is ENOUGH He gets to determine what I am.

Help Teens Adjust Their Sleep Patterns Before Back-to-School

The annual focus on back-to-school is again in high gear. As you look for the best sales on supplies and clothing, here's a reminder not to overlook a critical need for teens to start the new school year off on the right foot: Help your kids adjust their sleep cycles to fit the school year schedule before the first day of school.

Summer is a season when teens often experience more freedom in their daily schedules. Typically, they stay up later at night and sleep later during the day in summer than during the school year. By now, kids have gotten out of their typical school routines.

If kids wait until school starts to adjust their sleep cycles, it's likely they won't begin with the focus and energy they need in the classroom. "Re-establishing a regular school-time sleep schedule can take several weeks. So, it's important to start resetting that internal clock early," said Kris Sekar, medical director of the sleep lab a The Children's Hospital at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. "A series of small adjustments in the sleep and wake-up times is best and should start right away."

Current research suggests that most teens don't get the adequate eight to nine hours of sleep per night that experts suggest, and one study found that a third of teens fall asleep in school twice daily. Teens' lack of sleep is also linked to poor school performance.

It's likely that teenagers will want to get every last drop out of their remaining summer freedom, and so parents should expect some resistance in trying to reset their sleeping patterns. But because adequate sleep plays a big factor in academic achievement, parents should wrestle this "back-to-school bear" sooner rather than later.
