Despite all the changes at Faith in the last few months, our leaders have continued to build an excellent community with and for students. Our students have continued to learn and grow in their knowledge of God and their areas of service, and we're ready to have an excellent February!

 

This month, we have two events, one for Middle School and one for High School. We also have Groups almost every Wednesday and The Gathering every Sunday.

 

I am particularly excited about The Gathering because we are starting a series called Not Okay. There are more details below, but it's a perfectly timed series specifically covering stress and anxiety!

2024 Winter Calendar

The Gathering is for 6th-12th grade students. We gather to worship together, take a look at God’s word, and have some fun! The Gathering is a great place to get to know God and meet some new people. Join us on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 AM service in the High School Room (on the northwest side of the campus).

 

The Gathering will happen every Sunday in February!

This Sunday, we start a brand new series on stress and anxiety called  Not Okay.

As we look at this series, take a deep breath. Count to ten. Unclench your jaw. Close your eyes (or don't, since you're trying to read). You've probably learned a trick or two to help you recenter when you are overwhelmed or feeling stressed, worried, or anxious.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of reasons to feel stressed on most days. So, between school, family, relationships, and questions about the future, what can we do?
During Jesus's ministry, he spent a lot of time with people during some really stressful moments. In this four-week series from the Gospels, we'll see how, when we're not okay, Jesus offers hope. We'll discover that when people reject us, Jesus never will. We'll see that it's still worth it when it's not easy to do what's right. And we'll be reminded that when you feel worried, Jesus can be trusted.

Sunday, February 4th - Not Okay, Week 1

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

What keeps you from being honest about your stress? What is one way you think Jesus can help you with that

How often do you talk about stress with your friends?

Who can you ask for help if you feel stressed and anxious?

What questions do you have about how God is at work when you have stress and anxiety?

Why do you think this story (Mark 5:25-34) is in the bible? What does it tell us about who God is?

 

Sunday, February 11th - Not Okay, Week 2

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

How would you describe rejection to someone else?

Has there been a time you felt rejected? How did it impact you?

What do you think about being rejected like the disciples (Mark 6:1-13)?

What are some ways you build walls to stop being rejected?

What is one way that you can start pulling those
walls down?

 

Sunday, February 18th - Not Okay, Week 3

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

How would you define integrity to someone else?

OR If you were asked to help teach someone younger than you how to live with integrity, what would you say?

How important is it to be someone who lives with integrity?

What is something in the story of John the Baptist (Mark 6:17-29) that surprised you?

Why might God choose to allow John to go through what he did?

Who is someone who encourages you to share what you are experiencing honestly?

 

Sunday, February 25th - Not Okay, Week 4

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

Have you ever had stress that has lasted for a long time?

What was that like, and how did you make it through?

Is it helpful to have others know why you are feeling stressed? Why or why not?

What stood out to you about Jesus' teaching on anxiety and worry (Matthew 6:28-35)?

What keeps you from trusting Jesus when you feel worried?

Read Philippians 4:6–7. What do you read in this passage that you could start doing when you feel worried?

FSM Groups are where we cultivate real relationships with God, each other, and our leaders. Together, we dig into God’s Word, and through purposeful conversation, we make its truth tangible. Groups are a great place to grow with God.

 

FSM Groups will meet every Wednesday in February except February 21st because of the Mid-Winter/Presidents Week Break!
