January 5: Pancakes & PJs
January 12: Youth Group resumes
January 15: Wednesday Nights resume
It's HoG Sunday! This is the day that the congregation decorates the church for Christmas, through a service of song, scripture and "holy chaos."
930a: Potluck in the gym, Live Nativity rehearsal
1045a: HoG service in the Sanctuary, including the Live Nativity (students may sign up for roles of the Holy Family, shepherds, magi, or angels; priority is given oldest to youngest Youth)
Live Nativity will go outside for pictures following the end of the service.
Calvary Youth are sponsoring two individuals for this year's Adopt-a-Family, our annual project to provide Christmas gifts for families at United Methodist Open Door and Cloud Elementary School. We ask that everyone bring $5-ish to contribute (though everyone is welcome to join, even if they can't contribute financially!). We'll head to Walmart with our list, do our shopping, and return to Calvary to wrap gifts.
Kids, Youth, and their families are invited to the Family Advent Party on Wed, Dec 4!
6-7p we'll gather together in the gym for devotions and crafts (Youth will be helping to lead stations for younger kids). We'll talk about Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, the four weeks of Advent, and help families to make their own Advent wreaths.
Then from 7-8p, anyone who is staying while the Adult choir rehearses is invited to watch a Christmas movie with snacks.
Advent: Reality vs Expectations
Join at either or both services (830 and 1045a) for worship full of song, as Calvary's choirs lead the congregation in carols, liturgy, and anthems for the Christmas season.
Christmas is coming: let's celebrate!
We'll have our monthly dinner on this night at 530p, but before that we'll take part in various Christmas-themed games and a White Elephant gift exchange in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is asked to bring a gift valued $5-15 dollars (wrapped) as we let chaos reign.
(The Chegwidden Christmas Concert follows at 6p in the Sanctuary; any who are not planning to stay for the concert need to be picked up no later than 6p).
Come for an evening of holiday music that is diverse in style and singular in heart! Enjoy the sounds of the season with the Chegwiddens and their family and friends for the 3rd year at Calvary!
You won't want to miss this lovely evening on December 8th at 6p. Join us in the sanctuary for a wonderful night of music and meaning! We will be done by the Kansas City Kickoff!
While the parenting group shares in their Christmas Party, Calvary Kids & Youth will be decorating cookies, playing games, and chowing down.
(because we will be assisting Calvary Kids, this can count as service hours for anyone who needs them!)
Advent: Reality vs Expectations
At the end of each semester, we host a "Study Hall" for Youth to work on homework, study for finals, write papers, read, or just relax. We'll provide snacks and a quiet environment, and Tim will provide The World's Most Mediocre Lattes(TM).
(this will take place in Fellowship Hall, on the south end of the building!)
Advent: Reality vs Expectations
Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be in the Sanctuary at 430p and 730p.
