Weekly Update: March 30-April 5, 2026

Happy Easter! And welcome to April 2026! We hope that you join us for a fun Wednesday Night as we kick off a new month and a new series with pizza and a great time with friends. Many of us are on spring break, so its a great time to invite a friend to Wednesday Night! And then this Sunday is EASTER!!! We are hosting three worship services on Sunday: 9:30am, 11:00am, and 12:30pm. We hope that you join us in celebrating Easter this Sunday.

There are lots of other great events coming up (like The BIG Event 2026 and some graduation events for the class of 2026), and camp spots are starting to fill up as well. You really don't want to miss summer camp, it is a great experience and we have financial assistance available. Check out the notes below!

1) WEDNESDAY NIGHTS (FIRST WEDNESDAY) : APRIL 1, 2026 (7-8:30pm) - Don’t miss this special night when we kickoff a new month and new series with special worship, pizza, message, and fun with friends.

2) EASTER 2026 : APRIL 5 at 9:30am, 11:00am, & 12:30pm

3) THE BIG EVENT : APRIL 25, 11AM-1:30pm @ WONDERFLY ARENA - The BIG Event is an awesome opportunity for 6th-12th grade students to enjoy a uniquely exciting experience on Saturday, April 25th from 11am-1:30pm. The event will be hosted at Wonderfly Arena in Arbutus, where students can experience free pizza, human hamster balls, glow in the dark dodgeball, 9 square, basketball, worship, a Gospel message and more! There will be prizes and great opportunities to have fun and make awesome memories. Spots are limited, we have 150 total for students and adults to attend. 4) 2026 GRAD BRUNCH : MAY 9, 10AM-11AM @ SEVERN RUN - The end of the school year is right around the corner and we are excited to celebrate with the class of 2026! All seniors students are invited to attend this special event. We will be offering food, gifts, support, and prayer. Jess Senasack, the BCM/D State Director of Collegiate Missions will be sharing encouragement and information about life and faith after high school. To help us order food and supplies, please RSVP For Grad Brunch

5) GRADUATION SUNDAY : MAY 31, 9:30AM & 11:00AM - Congrats to the graduating class of 2026! The Church at Severn Run is excited to celebrate our graduates and their families. The special celebration will be part of our worship services on May 31st. We will have a special moment to celebrate our seniors, share gifts, and take a moment for the church to cheer on and pray for our graduates. All graduates will receive a gift from our church and student ministry! To be part of this event and receive a special gift, please RSVP for Graduation Sunday. As we get closer to the event, we will reach out with more info and we may request photos of the grads as well.

6) SUMMER CAMP 2026 : JUNE 26-30, 2025 - We will be attending Crossings Summer Camp hosted at Skycroft Conference Center, a long time partner of Severn Run. This is an incredible opportunity for students to grow in their faith, build friendships, and have a wonderful adventure. For all students who will be completing 6th-12th grade this current school year. The cost is $400 per student and scholarships are available. The deposit amount is $100 per student. Register For Camp

Five Ideas for Communicating Christ to Your Kids

If you find it challenging to talk with your teen about God and spiritual issues, you are not alone. It's not that parents don't want to talk about faith with their kids, but rather that they don't know how to get started. Here are five practical suggestions to get faith conversations started in your home.

1. Be yourself. You don't need a seminary degree to talk to your kids about God. You don't have to speak like a pastor giving a sermon. Just be yourself in conversations with your teenager. Share your understanding of who God is and why He matters to you in a way that reflects the real you.

2. Don't limit your faith conversations to Sunday mornings. Don't get caught in the trap of compartmentalizing faith issues to certain days or times. Let you kids know that spiritual issues are important in your life all of the time! Don't go overboard, but make faith issues an ongoing discussion with your family.

3. Let your kids catch you in the act of doing something spiritual. Spending time alone with God is great, but how will they know about the value you place on spiritual disciplines if they never see you engaged in them? Let your kids "see" you involved in these disciplines. Your actions teach your teenagers much about your faith, and likely communicate more than your words.

4. Look for natural opportunities to engage in faith conversations. Be on the lookout for opportunities along the road of life where issues almost beg to be discussed in light of your Christian commitment and faith. Try utilizing news items and entertainment media sources as springboards for faith conversations.

5. See yourself as a "fellow-learner" rather than a teacher. Taking the posture of a "fellow-learner" takes much of the pressure off of you and sends the message that you don't claim to know everything about the Christian faith. It's truly healthy when your teen asks a faith question that you need to reply with, "I don't know the answer. Let's figure it out together."
