ROCK Retreat RSVP

we will attend the ROCK Retreat in Ocean City, MD with youth from all over Maryland!

 

ROCK is a powerful and fun-filled weekend in Ocean City, The event allows youth and adults to take a step back from their busy lives and learn about the amazing love of Jesus Christ. It is an awesome experience for folks to more fully connect with God and their friends while listening to great bands and speakers. You will leave ROCK renewed and ready to spread the word about God’s great love for us.

ROCK is designed as a retreat with a focus on presenting the Gospel message in an exciting, culturally appropriate way for young people (and now adults, too) to be exposed to and have an opportunity to respond to an invitation to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.  (From: http://bwcumc.org/rock/)

On Saturday 1 October 2016, the UMYF will be joining with several others from WUMC to assist with harvesting at First Fruits Farm in Freeland, MD.  Times to be determined.  The ENTIRE FAMILY can participate and friends are welcome. 

First Fruits Farm, Inc. is a Christian ministry dedicated to providing hungry people with nutritious, fresh-picked fruits and vegetables. We are also a mission that welcomes all brothers and sisters to experience fellowship, the beauty of God’s creation, and the power of the gospel to change lives.

First Fruits Farm’s volunteer staff works together to plant, harvest and distribute fruit and vegetables on approximately 185 acres in northern Baltimore County, Maryland, the use of which has been donated by several local farm owners committed to our mission of serving needy individuals in our community.

Refrigerated trucks from our distribution partners, including Maryland Food Bank, York Food Bank, New Hope Ministries, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Rock City Church, MANNA Food Bank, and Westminster Rescue Mission, help to transport the harvest to hot meal programs, food banks and shelters in the Baltimore/Washington region. We also deliver directly to a variety of partners serving healthy meals to those in need. Since 2004, nearly eight million pounds of fresh produce have been provided to hungry people living our community.

I also hereby agree, to waive all claims, actions, demands, liability or damages against Westminster United Methodist Church and all officer, agents, chaperones, drivers or employees of Westminster United Methodist Church which may arise from my child’s participation in above described event.  I further agree not to sue the Releases in connection with any such claim, actions, demands, liabilities or damages.

Back to School Prayer

God, I'm going to be real honest. I don't want to go back to school. But I really do want to start the year right. So help me to change my not-so-great attitude.  Papa, I want you to be right beside me at school this year, almost like you're my best friend. If you were really walking beside me, maybe I'd be more concerned about pleasing you than pleasing others. If you were there beside me, maybe I'd realize I could talk to you anytime I wanted, and lean on you when I'm feeling sad or dumb. Help me know you really will be right beside me each day of this school year.  When I'm around my friends at church, it's so easy to act like a Christian. Then I get back with my school friends and I'm like this completely different person. I want to keep my faith real this year. So please do whatever it takes to help me be the same person at school as I am at church. In spite of my flaws and the mistakes I make, help me to be totally committed to you.  Help me share your love through my actions, my words (my lack of negative words), my smile, my helpful heart, and my acceptance of all.  Help me to study when I should, to get enough sleep, and to be the best I can be this entire school year.  Amen!
