"Out of sight, out of mind." There are many things in our lives that we often take for granted, simply because we do not see them. Air is extremely important, but how often do we consciously think about the breaths we take? Or the fact that our heart beats without us giving it a thought. Or when you go on a walk through the woods, you probably notice the beautiful flowers and the tall trees, but when was the last time you stopped and thought about the magnificent root system located underground?
Roots play an important role in the life of a plant. Roots provide nourishment. Roots retrieve water. Roots anchor the plant, helping it stand tall and strong. Roots determine the health of the plant; if the roots die, the plant will die; if the roots are healthy, the plant will bear fruit. Roots, though rarely thought about, are extremely important!
This school year, the overarching theme for Category 6ix is ROOTED. Colossians 2:6-7 says, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." We will be exploring the many aspects of being rooted in Christ. The mission of Category 6ix is to grow extraordinary students who love God, love people, and make disciples. In tree terminology, our goal is to help students dig deep, reach out, and bear fruit. We want to see them take steps toward owning their own faith, and you, as parents, play a significant role in this process. Thank you for allowing us to join you in this journey!
The purpose of this newsletter is to encourage partnership between the church and parents, provide some insights and encouragement through articles, and keep the lines of communication open about what has happened and what's coming up next!
After a summer filled with messy games, s'mores, and reflections on God's faithfulness, we have SPLASHED into the new school year with some KIDDIE POOL KICKBALL! We are thankful for the start of a new year, and to return to a normal schedule with Category 6ix. It is a privilege to partner with you in the lives of your teens, and point them to Christ. Thanks for reading!
