During the month of November, we focused on being Rooted in Prayer. We examined Jesus' prayer life, actually spent time praying together with the help of prayer stations, and learned from a handful of prayer warriors in our own church. This was by far one of the most encouraging months for me as a youth leader. I felt like I was learning right alongside your students, and was blessed to glean from the insight of those who shared about their own prayer life. It is my hope and prayer that each student will continue to develop a deeper prayer life with their Heavenly Father.
This month we begin a new series: Identity Rooted in Christ. The question "Who Am I?" is central in the lives of teenagers. We all wrestle with this question, but it is heightened during adolescence. The media bombards us with messages - constantly telling us what to wear, what to say, who to hang out with, and how to act in order to fit in. It is easy to allow the media and our friends or family to define who we are, and give us our worth. However, this is not where our worth lies!
Throughout this series we will uproot the false identities we tend to cling to, and begin to own our true identity in Christ. Our value and worth comes from who God says we are, which is clearly spelled out in His Word. We are his children, we are loved, we are redeemed, we are forgiven, we are chosen, and the list could go on and on. Our identity is rooted in Christ!
Continue to speak truth into the lives of your children, reminding them who they are in Christ. It is tempting to place our identity in what we do. We must work together to point them back to who God says they are!

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in growing extraordinary students who love God, love people and make disciples! I pray God's blessing over your family this Christmas season!
