Hey there! Thanks for checking out our Student Ministry Update! This strictly serves the purpose of keeping you informed of what is going on in our Kenwood Student Ministry. In here you will find information about upcoming scheduled events, what your student is learning in our Student Ministry, how we can hopefully help you with anything you need as a family, and even some things to pray for when it comes to our Student Ministry!

 

We are thankful to be apart of Kenwood Heights Christian Church and we look to continually study God's word in an effective way that reaches each of us differently. Sometimes we start off with a fun game, sometimes we just talk about our week, and all the time, we open God's Word together and see how we can apply it to our lives.

So hi to Emily! Emily is our intern for the Summer and we are thrilled to have her here! She has already done a lot of things for us and she has a lot of things in mind for us for the Summer!

 

You might see Emily helping out in different areas of the Church and that's because she's pretty cool. But her focus and attention will also be with our Students as well. Emily will be at our "Lunch AT" meetings, all Sunday morning programming, and all special events too. Emily grew up at Kenwood Heights and she loves this Church. But instead of me talking about it, how about we hear from her? Here's a little blurb that Emily wrote for us:

 

Hey y’all!

Most of you already know me, but for those of you that don’t my name is Emily Black and I will be your summer ministry intern! Just to fill you in a little bit about myself, I’m a senior at Campbellsville University. I felt God’s call to Christian Counseling in high school which led me to be a Psychology Major with a Marriage and Family Ministry Minor. My goal is to graduate in December and get into graduate school where I will get my doctorate and become a youth counselor. I’ve grown up in Louisville and been a member of Kenwood since I was in the 3rd grade. This place is home and these people are my family. I could not be more thrilled to be working and spending time with you guys all summer! If you all have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out! See ya around!

So when you see Emily this summer, have her come hang out with you! We are super glad she is here!

 

We as a Student Ministry are fortunate to have such encouraging and involved families. As a Youth Minister, it truly is so exciting for me to witness how involved and how much care goes into our ministry and our teens by you, the family.

 

When we say, "where do we need help?" Well, the answer is you. Your continued prayer and support and encouragement for our Students and leaders alike! We do ask that if there is something you would like to do with Students, please let me (Alex) know and I would be thrilled to talk with you.

 

We have various events we would like to do and continue to do. Pool parties, bonfires, monthly hangouts, etc... and we would love to branch out beyond the Church building and seek to get into communities and homes more.

 

If you would be interested in helping or hosting an event, please know that we would love to talk with you. Your continued involvement and encouragement has been so helpful and will continue to be!

What can we do for you? How can we pray for you? How can we serve you? As a Student Ministry, we are looking to stay...active. We want to continue to do things to help and to connect with more and more people.

 

We'd love to know activity schedules! Does your student play a sport, in a school or community club, or just have things going on that we could come support? Let us know! 

 

My door is always open to you. Through email, phone, in person, etc... whatever it may be. I would love to connect with you further. What can we do for you?

Well hey there! Thanks for reading up on our Student Ministry and supporting us the way that you do. Your prayer and encouragement for our Students and Volunteers is very impactful. Personally, I want to share with you a note from me.

 

During this time of year we have a chance to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of the Summer! And especially as Middle and High School Students- we know how much fun that can be!

 

This Summer we have so many things planned for you and personally....I can't wait!!

 

We have lunches together throughout the Summer, we have a Louisville Bats game, we have camps, we have a trip to the Zoo, we have a Pool Party, and so. much. more. And these are EASY things to invite people to come to! What's also great about these events is that they are family based events. We want the whole family to come to the Bats game, the Zoo, Holiday World, and more. We just want you there!

 

If you don't have a Summer Calendar of events that we have given out, please let us know! We would love to get one in your hands! We also have scholarships available for Camps and we have options available for needs to be addressed in special events. If there are ever concerns you may have about an event (whether that be financial, transportation, etc...) please never hesitate to let us know and see how we can help. It doesn't matter what needs to be done- we just want to connect you and your family to Kenwood Student Ministry in any way that we can!

 

Over the last few months we have had two students give their lives to Christ and two students graduate High School. We are welcoming in a new group of 6th grade students this Summer and we have seen our growth within our Student Ministry increase in many ways. In other words...God is doing some cool things within our Students!

 

How can we best serve you and connect with you? Our goal is simply to help introduce you into a relationship with Jesus Christ and connect with him on a daily basis. Much like the mission of Kenwood Heights Christian Church, we want to become like Jesus and share intentionally in local, national, and global neighborhoods. And that starts right here within our own community. A group of Students who have a culture driven by seeking God in all they do will make such a powerful impact on everyone around them.

I am passionate about seeing students take the next step in their faith into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ!
