Hello parents of the fantastic students of UBC,
February has come and gone quickly, and though it is the shortest month of the year I am convinced that the impact it had will last a very long time. We had some of our best small group conversations yet as we covered topics centered around patience and wisdom when it comes to dating, patience and obedience when it comes to waiting for marriage for sex, and readiness for becoming a spouse in the years ahead by practicing loving our neighbor now. I am thankful for a team of youth leaders who approach the Word of God with such care and love. The students also did a great job handling the subjects, taking them seriously and offering thoughtful expressions and questions.
Winter Camp was a blast! We had so much snow! We put an emphasis on 1 John 1:8-10, coming to an honest conclusion that we are not just sinners by status but daily sinners by actions, and therefore we need confess our sins and be quick to forgive. We also emphasized just how important Christ's work on the cross was for us; that each sin we commit has been paid for and the Lord says He "remembers their sin no more." (Isaiah 43:25). The weather caused a lot of improvising as the camp ran out of the propane that provided us with heat, hot water and a stove top. The students were good sports and made due with electric heaters and cold showers. Special thanks to our amazing and flexible cooks, Bryon and Amy Putman.
March should be a great month as we will focus on outward disciplines, leadership and service. Thank you guys for your prayers and support.
God bless,
Pastor John
