Students and Parents -

March was such a fun month; let me highlight a few things:

 

EVENTS -

- (HS) In & Out: In a Bag pushed students to risk it! For many of them, putting together a skit with a team and then stepping onto the stage and performing in front of their peers was WAY outside of their comfort zone. We were proud to see them all step up, risk, and laugh together!

- (MS) Meet in the Middle: Glow Games did not disappoint. We had a great turnout with a ton of first-time guests ... one day soon, THE Impossible Shot will have to change its name.

SUNDAYS -

- In the Gathering, we did a 4-week study on the life of Samuel. We opened with a conversation around prescriptive and descriptive sections of scripture. Then we looked at the descriptive account of Samuel's righteous life, and we discovered a few trends in his life that we could apply to ours, including being ready to serve, listening to advice, pausing, and seeking God, among other important lessons.

- Easter weekend saw students showing up and engaging meaningfully on Good Friday through the prayer stations and then coming out in force, specifically during the second service, to serve in Kids Ministry!

GROUPS -

- Groups continue to be a bright spot in our ministry! I have loved seeing students continue to connect meaningfully with their leads and each other while learning more about God along the way!

 

With April comes a bit of a change of pace. There is no In & Out this month, but there is Late Night Apps. Meet in the Middle is the 3rd Friday, instead of the 2nd. The Gathering will happen every Sudnay but Groups will take Wednesday, April 10th off because of Spring Break. And, maybe most anticipated, Summer Camp registration starts on Sunday, April 14th!

- WAIT! BEFORE WE GET TO APRIL -

Hygiene Heros ends THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 5th.

As a reminder, we invited kids, students, and their families to bring hygiene supplies to Faith Church! These supplies will be used to build hygiene bags for our homeless friends in the greater Puget Sound area. This is a chance for Students to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Our church is partnered with the Union Gospel Mission to distribute these bags.

Here are a couple of important things to consider…

• FSM is competing against Faith Kids to bring the most hygienic goods. The ministry that brings the most goods will win a pretty sweet prize!

• All hygiene supplies must be dropped off in the FSM Drop Location (at Gathering or Group Check-in)!

• You can go to THIS LINK to access the Amazon Wish List with the specific hygiene goods we need to pack the bags.

 

IMPORTANT UPDATES - 

1) We are doing GREAT as a church. We've brought in hundreds AND hundreds of items that will fill hundreds of bags!

2) According to STU, or should I say the EVIL DOCTOR DISEASE (Capitan Hygiene mentioned Doctor Disease when he stopped by FSM. I've never seen Stu and Doctor Disease in the same place at the same time ... it makes you think AND Stu seems like he's trying to sabotage our efforts), we're behind Faith Kids!

3) This Sunday, we can make up the gap! You can bring your final items in or even make a cash* donation so that we can order the missing items.

 

Let's do this! Let's finish strong.

 

 

*Monitary donations are super helpful because we are missing a handful of different items to be able to make complete kits and we could purchase those items specific to what is needed to finish the kits.

2024 Spring Calendar

The Gathering is for 6th-12th grade students. We gather to worship together, take a look at God’s word, and have some fun! The Gathering is a great place to get to know God and meet some new people. Join us on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 AM service in the High School Room (on the northwest side of the campus).

 

The Gathering will happen every Sunday in April!

This Sunday, we start a brand new series on doubts and questions called  Beyond Belief.

The Bible is full of things that seem almost "beyond belief." Sometimes that's because the stories we read on its pages are miraculous — especially the story of Exodus. Like, did God really split a whole sea in half, speak to Moses from a burning bush, or rescue all those people from enslavement?

Other times, the Bible says things that sound a little too good to be true — like, is God really as loving, kind, patient, or powerful as Scripture says? And can God really use each of us to change the world around us?

In this four-week series from the book of Exodus, we’ll explore the account of Moses and the Israelites and we'll discover a lot about doubt and our beliefs. We'll talk about how, when you doubt yourself, God can still use you. And we'll see how, when you doubt God, it's okay to ask questions because God still offers guidance and cares for you.

Sunday, April 7th - Beyond Belief, Week 1

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

Do you ever ...

doubt yourself? feel unworthy? feel unqualified?

When does that happen? Why?

What do you think God's decision to make Moses a leader tells you about who God is?

What holds you back from trusting that God wants to use you, even when you doubt yourself?

If you were going to encourage someone who doubted God could use them, what would you tell them?

The next time you have self-doubt, who is one person you can ask to remind you God can still use you?

 

Sunday, April 14th - Beyond Belief, Week 2

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

On a scale of 1–5, how easy is it for you to ask a question when you don't feel like you understand something?

When have you had a question or doubt (about your faith) that drove you to ask a question?

Do you feel like your question was received well?

Did you get a helpful answer?

Read 1 John 5:14–15.

What keeps you from talking to God about your doubts?

In what ways do you think questions invite you to grow?

Who is one person that you are going to ask questions to the next time you have doubts?

 

Sunday, April 21st - Beyond Belief, Week 3

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

Where do you typically seek advice when you have questions about life or what to do?

How often do you ask for advice from your friends about a difficult decision?

What does the way God rescued the people of Israel at the Red Sea say about God's character?

What questions do you have about God rescuing the people of Israel out of Egypt?

Why might God choose to give us the Holy Spirit to guide us?

What would it look like to be led by the  Spirit?

Have you ever felt confused about where God is leading you?

 

Sunday, April 28th - Beyond Belief, Week 4

 

Questions to ask your student this week:

How do you know someone can be trusted?

Who is the most trustworthy person that you know?

What do you think about the idea that God may answer our prayer that it may not be in the way we expect?

Which of these action steps feel difficult for you to do when you are doubting:

Remember where you've been.

Remember, you don't know the future.

Rely on your community.

The next time you doubt, what would it look like for you to remember what God has done in your life?

FSM Groups are where we cultivate real relationships with God, each other, and our leaders. Together, we dig into God’s Word, and through purposeful conversation, we make its truth tangible. Groups are a great place to grow with God.
